HCO sponsored a welcoming get together for men only at the Harari Heritage Center.
About 100 guests showed up for the occasion. The Hablul Mugad entertained the guests.
July 3rd, 2006. Opening Day
The official opening day of the 11th HSCF festival got underway with about 500-600 people attending.
The event parade performed by the 5 teams form the youth side made it colorful and spectacular.
The Harari Delegates lead by the present of Harari Regional State Murad Sherif,
Vice-president Regsa, and other dignitaries were also present on this historical event.
An opening speech was delivered by the temporary HSCF president Alwan Shash followed by
HCO president Surur. Also the president of H.R.S. President Murad Sherif delivered a speech
followed by Hablul Mugad performing one of their new hit songs called SALAM HARAR.
After the conclusion of the opening ceremony the youth soccer started. This year there were five
youth soccer teams with their full uniform.
The names of the teams are as follows:
a- Green Uniform (YAFKAH)
b- Red Uniform (AMIR NUR)
c- Blue Uniform (ABADIR YOUTH)
d- Maroon Uniform (IMAM AHMED)
e- Light Green Uniform (AZEBACH)
The opening day adult soccer game was played between Toronto Abadir and Toronto Harari teams.
Results were Abadir 5 – Harari 1.
The second game was between Atlanta Yafkah and D.C.
Result was Yafkah 4 – D.C. 2 July 4th, 2006.
Another successful day of event that included soccer games for the youth and adult. Track & Field,
and basketball game.

Toronto Abadir 7 – D.C. 0
Atlanta Yafkah 3 – Toronto Harari 2
In the evening mewlud ceremony was held near the Harari Heritage center that was attended by
more than 400 people. July 5th, 2006. Ziweriqa day.
This colorful and exiting event was sponsored by HCO and about 3000 Hararis attended together with H.R.S.
President with his delegation. Cultural and religious ceremonies were performed by different groups on the
Center Island were Ziweriqa was held. July 6th, 2006. Harari Day.
This exiting day attracted more than 800 people which was organized by HSO youth. The event program
included Fashion Show, Theatre, cultural show and speeches by HRS president Mrad Sherif, HRS
vice president Regassa, and many others. We will have images form this show as soon as we get it. July 7th, 2006.
Final soccer game was held by the youth and the adults. The championship game for the adult was played
between Atlanta Yafkah and Toronto Abadir. The game was tens and competitive. Finally the Atlanta team
came on top and beat Abadir 2-1 to become the Champions of the 11th HSCF event. This is the first cup
won by the Atlanta adult team in the last 11 years. After the conclusion of the game delegates from Harar and
community leader made a short speech followed by presentation of trophies and medals by HRS president Murad Sherif.
In the evening Hablul Mugad performed for the public in the hall provided by for the opening gala night. July 8th, 2006.Final Day Of The Event
For some it was a family day and for other it was a day they could learn something about their beloved Harar.
An open town hall meeting was held by the president of HRS Murad Sherif and his delegates. It was a day to know
all about the Harar and the government of Harar.
In the evening the conclusion night of the event was held in ball room with Hablul Mugad performing live. This gala
night attracted about 800 people. Before the conclusion of the night the HSCF Board representatives announced the
awarding of the 12th HSCF festival to the city of Harar and also gave awards to The Founding Fathers from Atlanta
who attended the event..
